The Evaluation Version of Bersoft Image Measurement only can open images saved in the proprietary BIM file format, but the full version supports many different image types (PNG, JPG, TIF, JPG, etc.).
Some BIM images are included with the Evaluation Version for your convenience, but if you prefer to test the program with some of your own images we can convert up to three images, free of any charge, to help you evaluate the product.

Send the images to be converted to: imagesUnix@image-measurement.com. We can process emails with attachments not bigger than 5 MB.

Notice that this email address is only valid for converting images for the Linux and OS X (MAC) editions, the Windows edition supports a different kind of images.

Overview

Bersoft Image Measurement is an application for measuring digital images that runs on OS X (MAC), Windows and Linux. This help file applies to the OS X and Linux editions of this software. See also: Differences between Linux, OS X (MAC) and Windows editions .

To measure an image, simply click on the image to define control points. The program will automatically calculate the area, perimeter, angle, radius, or length, depending on the measurement tool that is selected. See How to use the measurement tools for more information.

Bersoft Image Measurement can analyze Elisa and Western Blot arrays or whatever kind of images arranged in grids you may have and also supports pixel profiling and object analysis.

All measurements are drawn over a special measurement layer, whouth altering the original image in any way. Measurements are shown on a pane, but also can be displayed on a separate window, with more details, statistics for the measurements can be calculated as well (menu Measurements -> Show Statistics ).

The program supports JPEG, TIFF, PNG, and many other image formats (see Supported file types).

The following measurement tools are located on the left side of the image window:

The following tools open the image in a separate window:

  Pixel Profile

Pixel Profile
Use Pixel Profile to display a graph of pixel values or a pixel profile from a line drawn between two arbitrary points on an image.

  Array Analyzer

Array Analyzer
Array Analyzer can analyze dot blots and other basic arrays or whatever kind of images arranged in grids you may have.

* Both the Magic Wand the Selection Brush tools can be used to analyze the objects that were selected in the image, by clicking Object Analyzer.

Spatial calibration is available to provide real world dimensional measurements such as kilometers, centimeters, microns, or miles, for both linear and area measurements.

Measurements are drawn on a vectorial layer (overlay) and can be edited or adjusted as many times as needed.

The measurements are listed the Measurements Panel, placed on the right side of the image window, this panel can be shown or hidden usign the View->Measurement Panel menu.

Measurements can be exported as CSV file (which can be opened by Excel, Gnumeric, Libre Office Calc and many other spreadsheet software), to do so click File -> Export Measurements.

Non-destructive measurements and adjustments

Adjusting features such as gamma, brightness, and contrast, using the View -> Color Balance Panel menu, will not modify an image, only its appearance on screen.

Bersoft Image Measurement measurements don't modify images, because the measurements are saved as sidecar files, not into the image file.

Only by using the Image -> Transform menu it is possible to modify an image.
